Our History
In 1975, William Cox founded the Centerless Grinding Company, which would later be known as Indiana Precision Grinding. William and his son, Dave, started with a number two Cincinnati Milacron centerless grinder in a 1200 square foot building and began business. In time they expanded their capabilities to include other grinding services, such as cylindrical grinding. By the mid-1980s, the company had moved and rebranded as Indiana Precision Grinding. As time went on, IPG established a reputation as a best-of-class precision grinding shop and continued growing their capabilities, team and experience.
Today, IPG is an AS9100-certified aerospace supplier, specializing in the grinding of thermal spray coatings, nital etching, magnetic particle inspection and more.

What makes IPG different is our people. Each member of the IPG team, most of whom have been with us for over a decade, is committed to providing the quality products our customers have come to rely on from us since the company was founded in 1975. The leadership at IPG is also dedicated to growing the technology and capabilities required in today’s highly-competitive aerospace manufacturing landscape.

IPG specializes in providing innovative precision grinding solutions. Our 12,000 square foot facility houses a full variety of CNC Cylindrical, OD/ID, Centerless, Double Disk, Surface and Vertical Universal Grinding equipment. We are dedicated to delivering superior service and quality and are guided by ISO 9001:2008 + AS9100D Quality Management System to ensure each job is completed to the client’s exacting specifications.
